Reading a Human Design chart is like looking at a map, it shows the landscape of your energy derived from the make-up of your Centers, Gates, Channels, Type, Authority, Profile and more.

 

A standard reading focuses on your natural strengths, unique gifts, and how to live in alignment with your design. This is what I offer in my Soul Mapping readings and that is where I recommend you start before diving into the shadows.

Shadow mapping, on the other hand, goes into how you may actually currently be living those energies from your not-self (conditioning) and shadow perspective. especially when you feel out of alignment or you're struggling and and bumping into things in life, often through patterns that repeat themselves.

What happens when fear, conditioning, and survival strategies take the wheel?

Rather than stopping at “you have Gate 37 in an important placement in your chart, meaning you likely value harmony and community,” shadow mapping might explore: “How does Gate 37 show up when you fear conflict? Do you overcompromise? Avoid setting boundaries? Seek validation through belonging?” This moves it from theory into lived experience.

In essence, the Soul Mapping gives you the blueprint and Shadow Mapping shows you where you’ve developed protective patterns that no longer serve you. The two complement each other beautifully: one offers the ideal state of your design and tools to start aligning with your Strategy and Authority right away, and the other reveals potential detours you've encountered along the way and helps you get back on track.
